COVID-19 Support by CIDs: Sandton Central
Throughout the lockdown, Sandton Central has continued to play its vital role in managing the urban spaces of SA’s business capital. Security and cleaning services have continued throughout the lockdown, and SCMD has ensured that their people receive the necessary information and resources to deliver these services safely and with the required physical distancing, personal protection equipment and hygiene.
“Our ‘Men in Red’ have been fantastic on the frontlines looking after the people and streets of Sandton Central during the lockdown. We truly appreciate their commitment.” Elaine Jack, SCMD Manager.
Sandton Central has a unique relationship with SA Inc because of the many leading corporate offices in the business district. Many of these businesses are at the forefront of South Africa’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and while SCMD has been sharing their laudable and innovative efforts in the fight to flatten the curve, they have been actively driving corporates and individuals to support and donate to Rays of Hope.
For 29 years Rays of Hope, a non-profit company (NPC) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), has been partnering for lasting change with Sandton’s neighbouring community of Alexandra. In response to the lockdown, which has left so many people hungry, it is providing food hampers to vulnerable families across Alexandra. The fortunes of Sandton Central and their neighbour Alexandra are inextricably linked and they need each other now more than ever. SCMD encourages anyone who wants to make a difference and who can to connect with them, to do so at https://raysofhope.co.za/.
Sandton Central has been using their popular social media and digital platforms to encourage support of Rays of Hope as well as share vital information about the COVID-19 response that is both specific to Sandton Central and generally applies to the entire country. They are also busy compiling a dedicated page on their website for information about how the different levels of the Covid-19 lockdown will impact everyone who visits, lives and works in Sandton Central, and believe this will become a valuable tool for our community.
