No Dumping Campaign: Restoring Pride and Protecting Our Environment

The “No Dumping” campaign is a proactive initiative aimed at addressing illegal dumping and
restoring dignity within the Makers Valley precinct. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to
reclaim neglected spaces focusing on creating long-term behavioral change, strengthening
community responsibility, and keeping the environment healthy for all.

Launched on the 27th of February 2026, the initiative actively discourages illegal dumping
through coordinated awareness walks and visible signage while encouraging residents and
businesses to take ownership of their surroundings. Previously neglected areas have been
transformed into cleaner, safer, and more welcoming spaces, contributing to an improved quality
of life within the precinct.

This initiative demonstrates that meaningful change starts with collective action by bringing
together local stakeholders, volunteers, and partners such as JICP, JMPD, PLANact and many
more. The initiative fosters a shared sense of accountability and pride. These collaborative
efforts not only address the immediate issue of waste but also build stronger relationships
between the precinct, its residents, and local organisations.

The impact of the campaign is visible in both the physical environment and the mindset of the
community. Cleaner streets, reduced dumping hotspots, and increased awareness all point to a
shift toward more sustainable and responsible practices, creating room for connection, creativity,
and everyday life to thrive especially for young people who are learning the value of stewardship
and sustainability.
