Tshimologong which means “new beginnings” in seSotho is the brainchild of Wits’ Professor Barry Dwolatzky, the director of the University’s Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE), which he has been running since 2005.
“In the world today ‘digital’ underpins everything. It lies at the heart of innovation in every sector and aspect of economic and social life. From agriculture to aerospace, mining to media, education and entertainment. ‘Digital’ covers hardware, software and content and exists in an ever more interconnected world. It has the potential to solve many of the world’s hardest problems and create employment and opportunities for millions,” Dwolatszky says.
