Ithemba Property is creating jobs and affordable housing with a difference in the north-eastern extension of Maboneng Precinct.
City Buzz was invited to take a look at the construction taking place on the corner of Berea and Anderson streets in Maboneng, and the new building, Eyethu House (meaning ‘our house’), is taking shape to become a block of very modern affordable housing units.
“This building was a multi-storey light-industrial building – with a lot of textile tenants – which is being converted into 430 residential apartments,†said the CEO of Ithemba Property, Rian Reyneke.
The company, which is responsible for the refurbishment of more than 2 000 residential units in and around the City, has employed 160 people to work on the conversion of Eyethu House alone.
