COJ Suffers Computer Network Breach
On Thursday 24 October, the City of Johannesburg detected a network breach which resulted in unauthorised access to its information systems.
The incident is currently being investigated by City of Joburg cyber security experts, who have taken immediate and appropriate actions to reinforce security measures and mitigate any potential impacts.
As a result several customer facing systems have been shut down as a precautionary measure;
• City’s website.
• E-services.
• Billing system.
• Call centre
The investigation, which is set to take 24 hours, means that customers will not be able to transact on e-services or log queries via the City’s Call Centre or Customer Walk In Centres.
All emergency calls have been diverted to the Provincial Call Centre (112).
CoJ apologises for any inconvenience caused.
These alternative ways of logging should work during the shutdown:
• Water (leaks, meters, sewerage)
Log via email on customer@jwater.co.za
•Electricity (outages, street lights, smart meters)
Log online at citypower.mobi
• Roads (potholes, street signs, sidewalks, storm water)
Log via email on hotline@jra.org.za
