“In efforts to propel the City forward in commitments relating to climate change declarations, while improving the livability and sustainability of Johannesburg, the City partnered with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and DBSA to implement a project titled: “Building a Resilient and Resource Efficient Johannesburg: Increased Access to Urban Services and Improved Quality of Life”, via the Global Environment Facility Grant (funding cycle 6).

As the Project draws to an end, a Project Close-Out Webinar will be held with the intent of sharing the consolidated results, project impact and learnings for future application. This partnership has realized critical milestones in the low-carbon development trajectory for the City and has further resulted in immeasurable contributions to understanding the complexities of navigating climate commitments and project implementation in an ever-changing planning landscape in the South African context.
